Simple white sneaks are a no-brainer when you're out running errands or just running with the kids, so in this week's OPTW I wanted to share some "dressed" up options. I couldn't help sticking to a patriotic color scheme with Fourth of July right around the corner!
I love a colorful, casual running shoe as much as the next mama, but a plain white lace-up or slip-on sneaker is a bit easier to remix. Shirt dresses, chambray dresses, and cotton skirts are cool, unfussy and match the sneaker's chill vibe. Mine are Superga for Target that I picked up a few years ago. You can find similar Supergas here or some options from Target here.
This red, twist front tee would be ideal for ladies with a larger bust because of the dolman sleeve, short v-neck, and the waist-slimming seams and knot. Paired with a little cotton skirt (elastic waist and pockets are a bonus) and white sneakers and you're ready for the neighborhood picnic.
A simple chambray dress is a great summer staple that is easily dressed down with the white sneakers. The raw bottom hem and side button detail on this dress keep it interesting without the need for any extra accessories. An on-trend bandana (in red for the 4th) is a versatile final touch.
Finally, a cotton shirt dress is a great summer option for nursing mamas. Accessories and shoes can take this dress style in many different directions but I love the look with the sneakers and a ribbon belt. This could work for a day out with the kids or a rooftop party with just the grown ups.
If you find yourself wearing casual sneakers with only the most casual outfits, give one of these dresses or skirt combos a try. Just keep the dress or combo simple and summery to avoid looking like you put tennis shoes on with your skirt suit 80's office lady style.
